My eyes snapped open to the robbers. I looked over to the guy they were calling Berny. He was standing there, dazed. I saw drool coming out his mouth. He was pointing the gun at one of the others lazily. He then dropped the gun and fired it at the other thug's knee. He dropped to the ground and cried out in pain. Everyone's gaze and guns were trained on him. Berny dropped the gun and lunged at one of the others, moaning. He grabbed the boss and started giving him a bear hug. Now the others couldn't fire, they would hit their leader.
I felt my eyes grow wide. Never, in all my life, have I seen something so strange. Berny sunk his teeth into his leader's arm, and I could see blood. The leader cursed and screamed even more. Then, suddenly, the other three thugs went flying, as if they were knocked away by some invisible force. I felt wind on my face, as if I were in a subway tunnel while a train was running on by.
The last two looked around. One of them wailed, "I wasn't paid enough for this!" They each grabbed one of the bags of money and tried to run. As they ran, I saw two blasts of light come from nowhere and hit there backs, causing them to fall and knock themselves out.
Berny dropped the guy and passed out, the leader fell too. Only, he got back up, holding his wound. He picked up the gun he dropped when he was attacked and pointed it at Berny's head. He saw that he wasn't waking up anytime soon, so he trained it on me, as if I had something to do with the weirdness going on.
"What. Did. You. Do." he said. It wasn't a question.
I stammered something unintelligible, then he said, "Shut up! Just, shut up!" The gun was shivering now. I felt very uncomfortable, with it pointing at me and all. Then, I heard a gun shot. I jumped a foot in the air. I waited for that feeling I heard survivors get when they're about to die, but survive miraculously. I waited for that little light at the end of the tunnel that I see on every overdramatized movie. But, I felt nothing. I looked down at myself to see a wet spot, or some other proof that I've been shot.
I saw none.
When I heard a thud on the floor, I looked up to see a dead robber and a kid holding a pistol. He said, "Huh. Here I thought this would be more of a challenge. C'mon guys. Lets go home." I heard another voice, a girl's voice, "Shouldn't we help him? We can't just leave him here for the police." The kid I saw holding the gun shrugged. "Don't matter." I heard a different girl's voice. "Maybe he can help us."
I couldn't take anymore of this. So, I ended up passing out.
