I was reliving everything I had ever been through. The medicines, the combat trials, my demanding to go back home. One day they put me in a sedative tank and put a new type of adrenaline drug.
That was when I went a-wol. The drug was too much. Bishop must have fled and wiped my memory before I tried to kill him. I found the others in similar sedative tanks and operation rooms. Soon enough, I became their Leader, their Protector, their Father.
With each passing moment, I got angrier and angrier. Bishop. That Monster. I will not let another soul be tortured by a scientist's madness. Or created for no real purpose, like I was.
Cyrus.
What? What was that?
Cyrus. Let go of your anger.
Why should I? Why shouldn't I just kill everyone here right now?
Because you're killing us.
I looked around at the ruins of the lab. I looked down at the hands that were suppossed to be wrapped around a Sci-fi's neck. I saw Jazz. She said, "Why, Cyrus? Why?" I let her go and she collapsed. I looked around at the carnage. I saw Viktor, Megan, Sara, Magnet, Angie, Gabe, Cutler, all dead. I got down next to Jazz and cried. "No. No. No. NO!"
I bolted upright in bed. Or, at least I tried to. I was harnessed to the bed. Sara, Jazz, and General Cutler were standing over me and jumped a little when I tried to bolt up. "Cyrus?" Jazz said. I said, "What's going on? Weren't we in that cave?"
Jazz said, "Cyrus. You were takken over. Obelisk made you go insane. He, I don't know, what happened to him Sara?" She said, "It's wasn't an easy fix, but he kept your mind occupied with something while he took control of your body. The longer it's under his control, the harder it is to fix it. That's how he drove his enemies insane. When Jazz spoke to you, it triggered something, a true memory that made it easier to bring you back."
I took a minute to take this in. "So, everything I saw was fake?" Sara shook her head. "No. It was easier to distract you with memories you've lost than to replace them with something entirely different. What you saw, Cyrus, was real and it did happen."
They let me up from the restraints, and I sat on the edge of the bed. Jazz stood in front of me and I burst into tears. "My mom. Margret Wintergreen. She's dead. She's not my real mom, but she's the closest thing I got to it, and now..." I couldn't finish.
Jazz and Sara comforted me and the General put a hand on my shoulder. We sat there for the longest time. The General left without a word. We sat there for a little while longer and then the girls lead me to where the gang was sleeping. I almost laughed. They were all in the waiting room. Viktor and Angie were in separate chairs, with his arm around her. Megan was on the only couchin the room, back to back with Magnet.
We woke them all up and got a ride back to our old house. Where we slept.
My mom may be dead, but I still got these guys.
