Heroes Chapter 14

Dexter was flying us. Jessie was in the front seat, staring straight ahead. Obviously trying to dig up a little more courage within her. I was trying to figure out why I was doing this. I am risking exposing myself to the world. I don't know what came over me. I don't exactly have any feelings for Jessie. She is cute, but she's not my style. Mira looks good though, she's actuall really nice.

Wait, I can just put on my hood! That way, as long as I keep my head down, no one will recognize me. Dexter broke through my thoughts, "So, Jessie, what is the mental state of your father now? I'm only asking because, well...." She didn't look at him, but responded, "You don't want to waste this mission? I'm 100% sure, but the article in the paper, and the article online said that he denied several times of the....charges. So I'm assuming that he should be conscience enough." Dexter nodded.

It's getting kinda bright outside the windows. Morning already? I looked at my watch. Yup. 6:54.

We landed in an open field, with a bunch of confused cows. Dexter calculated that it would be a forty-five minute walk to the town from here, and since the trial starts at 7:30.....

We started running. I yelled to Dexter, "Hey! Won't it be kind of obvious that there's a big Helicopter in the middle of the field?" He hit something on his watch and yelled over his shoulder. "Look at it again!" I looked over my shoulder, I could only make out a slight outline of the ship now. I was about to ask how he did that, but I decided against it. Not the time or the place.

We never stopped running. We never slowed down. Jeez, all we need is some epic music. Yeah. I'm still a dork.

We finally reached the town. I pulled up my hood to make sure nobody saw me. I was a little conscience about who saw me out here, in daylight hours. We had to ask for directions to the court house. All said and done, it took us till 8:00 to get there. There were guards in our way.

"I'm sorry kids, no one is aloud in the court room." I thought we would end up in a huge fight, until Jessie stepped ahead of us and said, "I am Jessica Khan. Daughter of Robert Khan. The man you are about to sentence to death." They escorted us through the hallways and practically shoved us into the court room. There was the judge, the jury, the security guards, and the accused. Luckily enough, there was no audience. The Judge glared at all of us. "What is the meaning of this? This isn't a field trip." Jessie stepped up in front of us, look at that judge in the eye, and said, "It was me. I killed my mother."

After that statement you could hear a pen drop in the room.
