We stood there for a few minutes, staring at each other. Zero finally broke the silence. "Hey, Cyrus I'm-a-Mother-Hen Noble. Remember me? I tried to warn you of Longarm, and you tried to kill me?" Cyrus only glared back at him. "I'm still deciding on that." he said. He reminded me of a bear ready to defend some cubs. Judging by those kids back there, I guess he was. I noticed he had fangs; not teeth, fangs. Zero let himself in. I thought he was crazy, but his neck didn't get snapped so I guess he's OK. I stepped in cautiously. He was glaring at me all the way. Geez. His face is going to get stuck like that.
Zero and I sat in the Living Room. This was a nice house. Then I suddenly got even more nervous. Didn't my dad look at this house for a Summer home a few years back? The other kids have stayed in the dining room. Zero wasn't waisting time. "So, I'm guessing you've noticed the Archer Co. Building?" Cyrus raised an eyebrow, probably in surprise. "Yes." he said. A girl came in. She was very pretty, she had blond hair, brown eyes, baggy jeans, a simple T-shirt, and a big bulking belt. I thought I saw a spade in there or something. She said, "Cyrus? What's wrong?" She looked at Zero. From her expression I guess they met before. Zero was continuing, "I'm here to help him." he said, gesturing to me. "He needs your blood Cyrus. He is missing a limb."
Both Cyrus and Jazz looked me up and down. While I was looking at Zero. "How?" I asked him. He said, "I found you by asking around. The truck driver said he saw you and gave you a ride here. I found you and saw your....situation." Cyrus said, "He looks fine to me." Zero looked at me and said, "Its OK. You can show them." I said, almost snarling, "Why should I trust you, or them, for that matter?" Zero sighed and said, "Because, you both have something in common." I looked at Cyrus. Did he have wings too?
Regardless, I stood up and turned my back to them. I was hoping there wasn't going to be a knife there. I took off my Jacket and put it in my seat. I started to remove my shirt, and after I removed it I heard the girl whisper 'oh my god'. I could feel their eyes on my the stitches on my back. I heard a gasp from someone else. Then Cyrus yelled, "Everyone! Upstairs, Now!" He sounded like a drill Sargent. After a series of stomping and running sounds Cyrus said, "Story time. Your turn. Now." All three of us sat down. And I told them everything. (I left out Nicole's secret. As well as a few other details.) The girl put a hand over mouth when I told them about the operation. Cyrus had a expressionless face the entire time. He's either seen worse or he didn't believe a word I said. I hoped he believed me. I don't know what to do anymore. When I was done there was silence. He said, "Jazz, do you still..." He drifted off. But Jazz seemed to understand. She nodded. "Yes, but should we really..." she drifted off too. I knew what she was saying. Should we really trust him?
He nodded. She went off and came back with a needle. I shivered. A needle? Cyrus pulled up his sleeve. Jazz got the blood from him and started putting it into me. As she did this I said, "And, uh....How will this help?" She waited until she was done. Then said, "I'm not sure it will." Cyrus was pulling his sleeve back down. "It will. Remember when I lost a finger? Three days later and another one grew back." He said flexing his fingers as if they proved it. Jazz said, "You can have the master bedroom for now. Uh, Zero can, uh," She didn't finish. "Don't worry about me," said Zero, "although, I am kinda hungry." As she went to go get some garlic bread, I put my clothes back on.
I said, "I can't stay here." Cyrus smiled, there are those fangs again. "Sure you can. Besides, if one of your bounty hunters come knocking I won't hesitate to rip off the other wing." He said it so plainly I almost missed it.
