Anyway I was just sitting there watching TV and doing homework. I know that may not be the best strategy for schoolwork, but I just snap into focus when there is other stuff going on around me. Anyway, I was finishing up my math when the TV started messing up. Oh, Great. I better fix it before mom gets home. I went downstairs and to the Doorman known as Mr. Gore. I saw Mr. Gore on the way to school and back. He hasn't uttered a word. He had gray, wrinkly skin and If anything he looks like a Zombie. Of Course, I'm not about to say this to someones face. He was reading a book with a black cover. "Uh, excuse me." I said, feeling rather uncomfortable now. He grunted to show I had his attention. "My TV isn't working and I was hoping I could find the repair man?" He grunted and pointed over to the cork board covered in papers. The was a yellow sheet that said:
Repair Man
Room B1
"Oh, I go here to see him?" He grunted and nodded. "Oh, OK. Thanks." I went to the room, which happens to be the basement. I knocked on the door and when nobody answered I cracked the door slightly. "Uh, Hello? Mr. Repair Man?" I was a little scared about this. It looked like a simple bedroom. With a dresser, a bed, a door that lead to the bathroom. What, the dude doesn't have a kitchen? I saw, on the other side of the room, a little white box. A clean white box, in a slightly dirty room, it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. Curiosity got the better of me. I opened the box to see a credit card swipe. What is this for?
Just then the little box door slammed shut, folded itself into the wall and was covered up by more wall. Then the wall started to slide upward. It was hiding a metal door that slid back and revealed a total change in scenery. "What?" I heard myself say. I went inside and walked around. Oh My Gosh, it's huge! It looks like a lab!
Well since I'm here. I might as well look around. I didn't know Dexter had a lab. Heh. That's Not going to help with the teasing. I heard something in the distance. After a turn here and there. I saw a sealed door next to a big window. All I saw in there was darkness. I pressed myself against the glass, trying to see anything in there. Something hit the glass causing me to fall over. I got up and started to run, when I bumped into someone. I gasped out of surprise, "Dexter! I, um, The, uh, TV in my room is broken and I need help to fix it." His face showed no expression. "You should not be here. Not in this area anyway." We stood there for a moment until he said, "I need to fix something here real quick. I'll meet you in the lobby." I nodded, not trusting my own voice. He went back to the I-pad he was holding, and I left, embarrassed.
My mouth wanted to ask a billion questions, say sorry a trillion times, and a lot more. I sat in the lobby waiting for Dexter to come up. I didn't wait long. Dexter came up and we walked to the apartment. We were inside with Dexter fixing the TV. I was sitting on the couch. "You just dropped the signal. When I'm done it shouldn't do that anymore." I nodded. I couldn't help but ask. "Dexter?" He didn't look up from his work. "I'm sorry for going into your lab." Still not looking up he said, "Anyone is welcome to go to my lab. But How did you get in? I was going to give you the approval code today, but I thought I would wait until you got a little more comfortable with the residence of the apartment." I nodded. "The door just opened by itself." He muttered, "Great, another Computer malfunction. I can't afford one right now. I got to fix that by tommorow." He was just finishing and was about to leave when I stopped him. "Wait. Dexter, who was that? In that dark room, I thought I saw somebody." His face darkened. And I knew I asked the wrong question. "Come by my lab if you need anymore help." And with that he left. Great, you just gave a good impression of your nosiness Noel.
