TL&TOHJ~Hope: My first fight

I woke to a buzzing sound. I looked over to the dresser and saw that Link was about to vibrate itself of of the dresser. I picked it up and listened to the machine. "Disturbance. Unknown Creature. Vertex street." Vertex street? That's not too far from Thomas' house! I clicked my bracelet, ever so slowly opened my window and flew out into the night and over to Vertex Street.

It started raining, badly. It couldn't at least snow, it has to rain on top of the little snow we see here. I hate the weather now. I saw the policemen down below and I came up behind one of them. I asked, "Uh, excuse me?" The policemen spun around from the conversation. "Uh, where is that creature heading?" They never got the chance to answer because one of their radios blared out. "We got it! We got it! Now in pursuit in the park!" I smiled as the officer looked back to me. "Never mind." I said, smiling, and flew off. I landed in the park and walked over to a shadow against the woods. The officers were tied up in......Toilet Paper? I felt the stuff. No, not toilet paper. Some kind of gauze. I think they use this in hospitals, ya know, for broken stuff and sprained ankles/wrists.

I spun around as I heard a rustling in the bushes. "Hey! Its not nice sneaking up on people! Come out now and I'll make sure you'll get some medical attention." I said this because I don't want to threaten him/her/it. Especially since I practically attacked Brandon Keith when even he didn't know what was going on. But apparently the thing would have none of it. "NO! NO Hospitals!" A ball attached to a string lashed out and I barely dodged out of the way in time for it to snap into a tree. I got enough of a look that the ball and string was made of gauze as well. The tree snapped into splitters and I was surprised that it didn't tip over. I pulled out my glasses and looked at the other end of the gauze string, and saw a dark aura emanating from behind the bushes. The creature stepped out into the light provided by the local street-lamps. I gasped as I saw a mummy. It revealed only one eye, and other than that the gauze covered it from head to foot, he wore only a pair of black underwear. It's appearance was not the reason I gasped, I gasped because the eye of the creature looked very familiar.

I put the glasses off and said very slowly, "Thomas? Is that you?" The thing looked at me in surprise. It stood up to reveal it was a full seven feet tall. He said, "You.....know me? Who are you?" I looked at him up and down. I need him to trust me. Even if it means exposing myself. I clicked my bracelet, and in a flash of light I was myself again. In my pajamas, and standing in the cold, wet rain. "Haley!" Thomas said in relief/surprise. He stepped forward to hug me, but he stopped then retreated. With his back to me he said, "I.....I didn't want you to see me like this. I'm.....I'm a monster." I kinda laughed. I said, "Oh, come on. Can't you just take the gauze off?" He looked at me over his shoulder and held his hand up. The wrappings unraveled and revealed......nothing. I mean, the was nothing under the wrappings, it was like that gauze is all he is.

He reformed his hand and put it down in despair. I walked over to him and stood in front of him. I said, "What about the rest of you?" He looked at me with his pleading eye. He closed it and the wrappings around his head unveiled. There was nothing under there either. He reformed his head, and said, "That's it then. After this, I'm never getting out of the hospitals. They'll do even worse! Experiments! I can't go back! I can never go back!" I tried to calm him down, but he was freaking (The dark aura around him was glowering now, fully visible). "NO! You're like all the others! Taking pity on me, never seeing me for who I am! Get away from me!" He swatted me to the side and slammed me into a tree. I got up, a little dazed. I clicked my bracelet. I had tears in my eyes as he charged at me. They were still there when I was dodging his punches. He formed a ball in his hands and threw it at me. It hit me and exploded, the explosion formed wrappings that made a mummy out of me.

I broke the ties after a few minutes and the laser eyes helped. Although I started to feel a little tired. I guess the laser eyes take a decent amount of energy. I looked at Thomas. He formed a hammer out of the gauze wrappings. I was getting mad. "All-Right, Fine!" He froze and I clicked my bracelet. I was on my knees, crying. I said to him, "I am not fighting you, Thomas. What happened to the kid that saved me from those bullies? Huh? Where did he go?" He stood there, hammer still in hand. I went on. "Go ahead. Prove yourself right. I won't give you much resistance." I lowered my head in submission. Each drop of rain felt like an ice dagger on my neck and body.

I only heard this: "I'm......I'm so sorry." When I looked up he was gone. I looked around and saw that he was completely gone. I clicked my bracelet and went home. I don't feel like being a hero anymore.
