I was in my new room at Operation Broadsword. General Cutler was really cool. He said to feel free to arrange everything the way I wanted it, and if I needed anything at all, don't hesitate to call on somebody. He knows I just parted with my family, Jazz mailed me pics of her and the others. I framed them and kept them in my room.
I looked at my computer for today's date. November the 14th, Monday. Its about a week from Thanksgiving. I thought back to when we were all living in that dam. We never celebrated those holidays. We would watch the specials they had on TV, but we could never make presents or have a turkey dinner feast. I could always call them, ask if we can get our little group together sometime. No, they deserve to be with their true, genetic families. But, God, do I miss them. I picked up a picture of the guys, they were being silly and posing for the camera all goofy. A knock came on my door, I cleared my throat and said, "Come in". A woman who looked around thirty came in. She said, "General Cutler would like to see you sir." I nodded. "OK. Thank you."
I made my way to the main conference room. I met the General there. He said, "You OK son?" I nodded. "I'm fine, sir." He nodded a little. "Good to know. I have a little story to tell you. Are you familiar with the Legend of Dark Trinity, and their lair, Black Eden?" I thought about it. I've heard of it, but not the actual Legend itself. "No sir, I'm not."
"Well, I'd say its time you learned. You see, a looong time ago, there were three warriors. Each from different parts of the world. They proved to be the best of the best. They were considered by many, perfect. They made a pact, to be siblings by bond. They decided that to stop chaos in its tracks they would have to shape the world in their image. For the first time, and the only time, in human history the nations of the known world united to destroy this new threat. This Dark Trinity, as it was soon called.
It was a devastating battle, they had technology that couldn't be invented in at least another thousand years. In the end we won. They retreated. They each had an Apprentice, two of them died in the war. One lived on. It was written that he had a mind, beyond his time. The Dark Trinity agreed that in order to survive, they would have to sleep in there secret home, and wait on another era to conquer. This home came later to be known as Black Eden. The apprentice was charged with protecting his masters, while they slept. He would protect them and prepare the world for their awakening.
The story ends there, but we have reasons to believe that the Story will come to life again in this era." He stopped there and waited for my reaction. I said, "You are kidding, right? Dark Trinity is a myth. There is no Black Eden anywhere. That's a story you tell to boy scouts around a campfire! What proof do you have that Dark Trinity even exists?" He said one word. "Bishop." I stared at him. Is he joking? "It was a recent discovery, but Bishop has been living for years on end. Changing his name every half a century or so to through people off guard. We also believe that his alter egos have gained certain places in history, not honorary ones, but places none the less. We also found this." He typed in something into the computer, and a picture came up on the screen. He continued, "By using sonar imaging, we found this area here, underneath England." The screen showed a big pocket under the city of what is now London. "We are receiving energy readings, from that pocket of Earth, that are off the charts." I took a minute to take all this in.
So, this goes a bit deeper than a simple mad man bent on world conquer. I said, "What do we do?" He sighed a bit. "After interveiwing the one who calls himself Mutate, we were able to figure out one of the last bases Bishop is hiding under. In six hours, we go and hopefully put an end to this before it begins."
I nodded. After this is done, there won't be anyone hunting me, I can get my family back! Everything can go back to normal! Well, not normal, just a better normal.
