Rising Ch. 9: I'll worry about it tomorrow

The media arrived and started taking pictures. The police came soon after and back them all up. The police were really busy with the crowd so I had to investigate Pierce. I walked over to him and was about to turn him over to see if he needed a hospital, but I heard someone call my name. "Gabe! Gabriel!" I spun around to be slammed with a kiss by Jean Parker.
She held it for a minute while the photographers snapped their pictures, then broke like she rehearsed it. I pushed her away, and turned to Pierce. He was gone. I jerked to Jean. "Are you kidding me? Jean, that kid needs help! I need him to understand something, or a lot of people are going to get hurt!" She backed off a little, she had that sorry/innocent look on her face. "I'm....so sorry." I rolled my eyes. That kid....I need to talk with him. If he tried to kill me ounce, he'll try it again, at some point.
I went home today. I was tired. I don't feel like doing anything. I still haven't talked to Jean. I'll do it tomorrow, right after school. I laid down on my bed, and my phone beeped to let me know I have another Text. I turned the stupid thing off. I'll risk getting up late tomorrow.
Meanwhile........
It feels great to be a free man again, I'll say that much. I had to escape through the sewer system, but I got out, all by myself. I made my way back to my place. An apartment in New York City. After changing, taking a shower, and turning on the news, I thought about how I can make a comeback. I got no guys, no old friends willing to help, and no sappy CEO willing to hire. All my gear is confiscated. The only reason the TV is still here is because the land lady owns it. How can get my revenge on that freak bird boy? There has to be something, someone that can help.
Oh, but there is. The full grown criminal jumped when he heard the voice. You can get the power you seek. Just meet us at this location. A secret location flashed in his mind. Yeah, right. I saw what was outside that place. You want me to surrender to the police officers? Do not worry for the authorities. They are with us. Just do what we say. It sounded so.....soothing. It really seemed like a good idea.
OK, the Hunter will meet you there.
