I was walking to Devlin's house with Candy. Devlin said to go ahead of him, he had to stay after school and make up a test. He said the house was already unlocked, and that he called his mother ahead of time. I was talking to Candy about how the people not really trusting me yet.
"I know that Brenda framed me that one time, but can't they see that we are completely different people? We look nothing alike." She nodded. Then she said, "What happened to her, anyway? After the incident at the mall, she's been missing. No one has seen her."
I stopped and looked at her. "You tell me this now? I had no idea!" She took a couple of steps back. "I'm sorry. I thought you knew. I saw it on the news." I sighed. "Its OK. There's nothing we can do now. I'll just have to try harder." I thought about something, as we continued to walk to Devlin's house. "You don't think that big dark guy took her do you?" As soon as I said it, I heard a beeping sound.
I automatically put the Link earpiece to my ear. When I didn't hear anything I was confused. Candy then said, "Uh, Haley. I don't think that's Link." I looked at her and she was staring at my bracelet.
I looked at it too. I saw that the jewel was bleeping on and off. "What the...."
Streamers of light erupted from the the jewel and covered me, like they always do. For the first time, I felt scared. I became my Hero alter ego. Apparently, my clothes fix themselves if they've been ripped. I felt myself fly away. Candy grabbed my boot while saying, "Haley! What are you doing?" "I'm not doing anything! My body has a mind of its own!" I felt my arms grab Candy and then fly off. I held on her tightly and she did the same thing.
I am so scared.
