Rising Ch. 10: The Hunter's Meeting with Mr. Williams

The hunter entered the building, the guards didn't give him a second glance. When he entered the lady at the desk quivered a little. "Mr. Williams is waiting for you on the top floor, s-sir." He said nothing. He went to the elevator and pressed the highest number there was. When he got there, there was a long hallway with a single door on the end. He went up to it and knocked on it. A servant opened it. He simply said, "Ah, you must be the guest Mr. Williams is expecting."

Hunter only looked at him funny. "Please, follow me." He did so. Whoever this guy is, he better be holdin on to somethin good. The Mr. Williams he heard about was sitting in an expensive chair. He wore a business suit and he had a little girl sitting in his lap, leaning on his shoulder. She looked about ten. She was asleep, and had her thumb in her mouth. He has stroking her hair. She must have been adopted. He was white, and she was Asian. Probably Japanese. She had little pajamas, with a random cartoon character on them.

The man saw Hunter and smiled. He whispered something in the girl's ear and she woke up a little. She crawled off his lap and ran off to the other room. He turned to Hunter. "Beautiful, isn't she? Please, have a seat." Hunter continued to stand. The man only shrugged and continued, "My message to you was given thanks to my step-daughter. Do not mistake for the Telepathy you would see in movies and whatnot. She has a form of sonar, one so advanced that she can send entire thoughts. Unfortunately this ability has its limits, however you were within range." Hunter gave away nothing. He said, "Boy, does it look like I give a--" "Ah, ah, ah." Mr. Williams interrupted. "Watch your tongue Mr. Hunter D. Schaller." Hunter arched an eyebrow. He knew his full name, better do what he says....for now. He took a seat and Mr. Williams continued, "I understand your feelings right now, and I'm here to tell you I am giving you a choice. You want to kill Gabriel Andrew Collins, for that you will need power, and I can give you it." He arched his eyebrow again. "Bullsh--I mean, I don't believe you." Mr. Williams smiled. "Let me give you a little history lesson, Mr. Hunter. Throughout time, there have been numerous mentions of "People of the Sky" or perhaps "Angels" or maybe even a "Bird People" or two. These mentions are more than just coincidence, Mr. Hunter."

Hunter speaks back, "This don't got nothing to do with Aliens or nothin, does it?" Mr. Williams chuckled. "Not at all. You see, scientists failed to discover a hidden gene within that of a human's. Few get the full effects of it, but it spells out the DNA sequence in a completely different way. Adding some new......features to the human product." He let that set in for a moment. "I am speaking of Winged Beings, Mr. Hunter. Humans with the natural ability to fly. Isn't that a wonderful discovery?" Hunter growled a little. "Swell." He answered. "I guess you would have to see it my way. Anyway I have a, shall we say, 'Shadow Division' of this company. One that has been studying the Avian Sapien Gene for quite some time." Hunter interrupted, "Why haven't I heard of something like this on the news then?" Williams shifted uncomfortably. "I have my reasons. Anyway, I can even the score for you. I can make it so that you can have certain advantages over Gabriel."

He nodded. Then he stood up. "Then quit yer yappin and do it."
