81+1 Heroes Ch. 14: The Chase

We all nearly jumped out of our skins when the computer's alarms went off. It said, "Police scanners indicate mass murder of two gangs. I also found this image." A picture came up on the screen. It zoomed up on a little red blur. There was no question. That had to be Red. no one else would be a blur on a satellite picture. Dexter was typing in something. "Prepare for warp jump. Setting coordinates." The others seemed to know where to go. I just followed them. I was sortta panicking, "Wait, What? Warp jump?" Kenny said over his shoulder, "Yeah, we don't use it too often. It takes way to much power and there are usually too many risks. Just get on the pad, don't move, and you'll be fine." I wasn't 100% sure about this. We were all on the pad, which looked suspiciously like the one from Star Trek. What? I can't know nerdy stuff too?

I held my breath, I don't know if this is necessary, but I'm not taking chances. I closed my eyes and I felt as light as air for a minute. Then I felt as if I was falling, I opened my eyes again to see that we were outside, in a park. Over in the distance I saw something under a streetlamp. It looked like a....Oh My God. That's a human head! I turned away, I felt sick already. I've been to funerals, I've seen a dead body that was shot, but that.........I can't handle that. Dex spoke, "She was here." Jessie cried out, "I see her! Over there! She's jumping rooftops!" She then summoned three skeletal horses. Her and Kenny on one, Mira and Gross on another, and me and Dex on the third. We tried to follow her, she was a fast little sucker.

Dexter spoke into his earpiece, "Computer! We need to cut her off! Where is she heading?" Silence. Then he said, "She's heading to the Prison! We need to get there first! It's time to see how fast your zombie horses can go, Jessie!" She rode up beside us. She said, "Better hold on! They're real speed demons!" Is there a pun that can go unsaid for just this once?

We got to the prison. We stopped, wondering where she is. She jumped down from the closest building, spinning as she fell. She landed on her feet, then looked at us from under her hood. The only thing standing between her and that prison is us, the electric fence, and a few unsuspecting night shift guards. She ran right towards us. The horses were startled and started moving out of her way. I knew how they felt. Before she reached us, she jumped. She cleared us and just barely missed the twenty foot tall electric fence. She then proceeded to run towards the five story building filled with prison cells, and in those prison cells, ruthless and sick men.

For the first time in my life, I felt sorry for them.
