81+1 Heroes Ch. 17: Too Late?

Grossman stood in front of me. "Don't worry, I got this. You save yourself a princess." Now, I would deny everything he just said, but he tackled the creature over the railing before I could say anything. I pulled out my gun and fired. No results. The door is probably super strong so that during emergency lock-down, any prisoner hiding in there won't be able to force the door open. That means neither will I. I pulled out my lock picking kit and started to get to work on the door. You never know when you'll need it.

The lock was super heavy duty, my kit is not going to work here. I contacted Jessie. "Jess! Start working the system! I need this door unlocked, Now!" She responded, "Uh, OK. I'll see what I can do." I contacted the other two when I saw how Gross was doing at ground level with that wolf. "Kenny! Mira! Get to the jail cells! Grossman and I need your help. Jessie too!" Kenny buzzed back, "What about Red?" I bit my lip. "We'll have to worry about her later." That was the hardest thing I could have said. I hope this was worth it.

I have to open this door, now. I looked around. Lots of dead bodies around. Then I saw it. A crowbar! The arm holding it was dismembered, but I'll have to worry about cleanliness priorities later. I grabbed it and shoved it into the side of the door. I was pushing it with all my strength. It seems that something is pushing back, but that's impossible, isn't it? The room is filled with water and nothing could slip through the crack to push it back. I heard Jessie, "Dexter! I found the emergency release!" The door popped open but there was a black substance between the door and the wall. What the Heck?

I propped the door open with my knee (since that's the only thing I can fit at this time) I pulled out my pistol and fired at the thing. It seemed to squeal and snap itself together. At the same time the water forced the door open and slammed me into the railing. When all the water exited the room I found that Noel was in my arms. She was passed out and not moving.

Meanwhile Kenny and Mira came in and smashed the window. Letting themselves down to the fight with this wolf. It seemed to be getting bigger and was moving like a living ocean if anything. It looked at the scene three stories up and smiled. It was too late for these powerful little sinners. They failed in stopping the death of the one who had a chance in destroying it. His work was done. Aaaaaah. Hahahahahahahaha.

He retreated back into the soul of Little Red, who was hiding in the shadows, next to the door leading into the prison courtyard. She had the same old terrified/blank/panicky look on her face and was looking at the same scene the wolf had just a moment ago. Was she truly dead?
