Cyrus/Fallen/81+1 Heroes Part 4: He Jinxed us

(Gabriel's POV)

I called in the other chopper. "Bravo, this is Alpha squad. Are clear on what to do?" The one I believe is Kenny answered back, "Could you go over it one more time?" I groaned. "OK. Cyrus and I are going straight up to Bishop and distract him. Omega, Zero, and the other soldiers are going to the Cannon to disarm it. You and your team are going to find and save the hostages stored there." The pilot came over the speakers again. "We are arriving the Drop zone in T-minus 60 seconds." I got my rifle ready, nice and tight over my shoulder. We all went to the hanger. Cyrus came up with the bird on his shoulder.
Then the weirdest thing happened. They both started to glow, and then merged into one. The Old Cyrus was replaced by a new Cyrus. He had wings lining his arms, unlike mine which are limbs by themselves. I said, "Is that a new kind of Bird flu?" He glared at me. "Right. Wrong time for jokes." With that we all jumped out of the plane, and continue to sky dive towards the Mechanical Monster known as Talos. I saw the other kids diving a few yards next to us.
The soldiers and Omega had to have flight suits. They pop out metal wings to let them glide to wherever they wanted to land. We glided our way to the waist. Which is one of the few places that is exposed enough for us to slip through. Into the Lion's Den we go.
(Cyrus' POV)
We made it inside. We are inside a hallway inside the machine. I separated with Zeus and sent him out the way we came. I'll find him when I'm outside. I signaled to the others and Gabriel, you go that way, I'll go this way.
Within five minutes we find our first target. A few knights, one of Bishop's higher-ups. Apparently that armor helps. I threw a shrapnel grenade that seemed to work one was still alive, dazed, but still alive. We finished him quickly and moved on. It was fairly simple on our part. Just go up. But even that seems to be a problem. We got to a big room. In the center of it, was an orb glowering a bright light. There were a lot of rods coming from the roof and floor that seem to be absorbing the lightning that's shooting out of the orb itself. Gabriel came up beside me, "This must be the power core for the mech itself. But if this is the core....then where is the security that--" Before he could finish, the doors from the rafters above us opened. Drones, like the ones Omega and I fought, spilled into the room. The doors on our floor opened too. Knights, Pawns, and two Elite Archer guards surround us and take aim. I muttered to Gabe, "You just couldn't keep your mouth shut, couldn't you?"
