The next day we went to school. I kept on trying to say hi to Nicole in the hallways, but she looked the other way each time. I know she's mad at me, I have too much going on to deal with this. I don't know why, but I gave Jean Parker my Phone number and my phone kept on vibrating through the entire class. I got so many texts its not even funny. Another thing, who was that dude who really saved Jean at the restaurant? He reminded me a lot about Spyker, before he got that upgrade. Could he be related to him, somehow?
The final bell rung, I need to get to Nicole. I ran to her, as I saw her go out the door, instead of waiting for me by the door. I called out to her, "Nicole!" She only quickened her pace. I finally caught up to her and put a hand on her shoulder. She didn't turn around, but at least she stopped walking. I said, "Nicole, what's up? I've been trying to talk to you all day, if I didn't know any better I'd say you were..." She cut me off. "Get away from me." I let go, shocked by her reaction. People were looking at us now, but I was ignoring them. "Nickie..." She ran off to her bus, I didn't follow. I sighed. Crap, she thought I was cheating on her, I couldn't blame her. I got another text. Dang it Jean! I ripped the thing out of my pocket, the text said, "R u free tonight?" I thought about this. Yeah, I could get Jean to explain that we're just friends. Not the Couple of the century, as everyone keeps calling us. We are friends, nothing more.
"I'm so glad we can so much more than friends." Jean Parker says as she got a plate of cookies her mom made and sat down on the couch. Her parents were elsewhere, she didn't exactly say where. I said, "Uh, actually Jean, that's what I came over here to talk about." She looked at me puzzling. I took a deep breath. "Listen, you're a good person and all, and anybody would love to have you as a girlfriend, but I already have one, and she is not really favoring the whole, 'us being together' thing." She smiled. "Well, of course we're not together!" OK. She doesn't need to be smiling about it now.
"The paparazzi made us the couple of the century, not you or me. Of course we're just friends, we just look like a couple in public so we can help each other up the latter. To help both of us get more popularity." I thought about this. This never occurred to me. We aren't together, we're just helping each other out. I said, "I never thought about it that way." Jean put a hand on my shoulder. "Of Course you didn't, you're still new to this whole 'superstar' thing." I stood up. "Thanks Jean. Your a great friend." She smiled. "Don't you want some cookies before you go?" I froze in mid stride. I have a serious sweet tooth. Its my kryptonite. "Well," I said. "Maybe for just a minute."
