So there you go. That's how I got the powers and the gear to be a superhero. Here's the hardest part, sharing the secret with your best friends. A week later I had the little device it was a hard drive that was the size of three pens glued together. It had an earpiece that can be connected and removed from it. Paul is the best. I was a little late because of a gang trying to kill some police officers. Those jerks!
I landed on the rooftop. They seemed a little busy, so they didn't notice me. I changed back and walked up. "Hey, guys. What's up?" Joe Joe said, "What's up? What's UP?! What is up is that there is an unidentified flying object that everyone in this city is talking about! We were discussing it, before you came up." Candy says, "Do you think its aliens? They have the worst fashion sense evah! Those jumpsuits, are a never! Some of them don't even wear anything! Like, ew!" I tried to roll my eyes, but I was too busy laughing. Devlin said, "There is no such thing as aliens. That is only folklore."
I interrupted them. "Hey, guys! What if I said that I knew what this thing was?" They all looked at me. Joey said, "Well, out with it woman!" I stuck my tongue out at him. I clicked my bracelet, and I turned to my Hero self.
They all stared. I realized I probably looked a little ridiculous. I was in a purple dress, with a black belt that hugged the belly, rather than waist. I had a tiny jacket/vest that was a lighter shade of purple. I had a pair of black shorts on underneath the skirt. I had black gloves that only covered half of the fingers, and it had a rectangle in it that exposed part of the back of my hands. I had black boots, that went up just shy of the knees. My hair was tied up in a ponytail, which I usually hated, but I kinda look good with it.
Candy was the first to speak, "Oh my God! That is such a cute outfit! Where did you get it?" "I didn't." I said in all honesty. Joe asked, "How did you change so fast?" "That would be because of this." I said, showing my little silver bracelet. I continued, "That's not all." I hovered above the ground. I zipped next to, and behind them and back. I said, "Devlin, punch me." "What?" he said. "I am not punching you." I groaned. "C'mon. You can't hurt me. I promise." He shook his head no. I said, "Fine. I guess you'd break your hand or something." I looked at Joe Joe. I couldn't help but smile like a possum. Its payback time. "Joe Joe. How about an arm wrestling challenge?"
He laughed. "Yeah, right. We played that before, you ready to cry again?" He set up the wooden box that served as our main table. We gripped each other's hand to arm wrestle. I said, "Feel free to use two hands any time." He chuckled. He said, "3, 2, 1. Go!" I just held it there. He was struggling all the way. He started using two hands and got up to get more leverage. I was grinning all the way. He said, "Dev! Help me out here!" He got over there and started to pull on my hand. I wouldn't let it budge. I slammed his arm down, and they literally flipped over the box and landed on their backs on the other side. They weren't hurt, just their pride. Joe Joe was humiliated, so Devlin had to ask, "How did this happen?" They were both getting up. I said, "Remember when that light in the distance started flashing?" They thought about it and agreed. "Well, a bunch of these lights went out all over the city, and one of them hit me. Then, this happened. I seem to be able to change back and forth by clicking my bracelet. Pretty neat, huh?" Joey said sarcastically, "Yeah, Super."
Candy gasped. "Hey! You're the one who's been helping out all those people!" I nodded. "Yup. I even had my brother Paul, make this little trinket. It'll vibrate and let me know that there's an emergency." "Does that mean he knows too?" Devlin asked. "Well, no." I answered. "My parents would have a canipsion if they saw me right now. Paul's head would explode, and I love him too much for that." "Awwwww." Joey said, teasing me again. I ignored him. Devlin stopped everything. "Wait up, guys. Haley, you said that you saw more of these lights flying around town?" I nodded. "Yeah. A lot of them were shining black though. Why?" He sighed and sat back down on his seat. "That means, there could be more than just you, running around the town. If I'm right, then this city is filled with walking super powered time bombs."
