I was panicking. Despite the usual apathy I let on, I was truly scared. I couldn't lose Noel. Bad things like this don't happen to good people. I knew there was too much water in that room for her to have any air in there.
I put her down on the floor. OK. Relax. You can do this. You are Dexter Maximoff, the boy genius. That freaking cartoon doesn't have anything on you. I tilted her head back and opened her mouth. I placed one hand over the other and placed them at the center of her chest. Keeping my arms straight, I pushed. I thought I was going to have a heart attack myself. I never performed CPR before. I studied medical stuff in my free time. I had to. My sister would end up hurting herself at times, during her 'fits'. So, as a precaution I studied the emergency medical books at the school. I wouldn't need to study it till I'm in the tenth grade, but still you never know. Well, I know, NOW.
I've already performed the rescue breath three times. I was starting to get tired...NO. I can't get tired. I can't give up yet! Come on one more time, One more time. I did another rescue breath. Although at this point, they seem to becoming the desperation breaths. I just finished the second breath, and she started coughing and hacking up water. She sat up straight. She's OK. She's OK.
{Noel's POV}
I woke up coughing and I sat straight up. I found myself in Dexter's arms. I could feel myself turning red. I looked around. I saw the guys, who were surrounding us at the moment. How long were they standing there? I squawked out, "H-hey guys. What's going on?" Dexter let go of me, and when he saw the others, he was as red as me. He then went serious again. "Kenny, Grossman, where's Red?" Kenny smiled. "Right here." he answered. Red was in the air, with her hands and feet stuck together as if she was tied up. But she wasn't. She wasn't struggling, she seemed as relieved as the rest of them in those tired eyes. Kenny continued, "C'mon Romeo, mission accomplished. Let's go home." Oh, sure. Now he starts joking now that I'm not dead. I swear, we were turning so red, they should just put me and Dex up front to light the way.
But still, he saved my life. I'm not to sure how to respond to this. Or how I'm going to explain this to my mom.
